TRIGGER POINTS

TRIGGER POINTS
(PGM myofascial trigger points).

Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MDS) is characterized by the presence of myofascial trigger points (PGM) or Trigger Points: “hypersensitive nodules within a tight band of a muscle.” These trigger points are characterized by being painful, limiting joint movement, and producing muscle imbalance. In addition, if they are active, they can give referred pain in another body area.

Deep Dry Puncture is a current physical therapy technique with proven evidence, which acts on these PGMs causing the destruction of these nodules. It consists of the application of needles (the same ones used in acupuncture) on the nodule in question, so that the local spasm response obtained when performing the dry needling will inactivate the trigger point and destroy the area of dysfunction
