Acupuncture/needling

Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine and a key component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Fine stainless steel needles are inserted at very specific points in the body for therapeutic or preventative purposes. The purpose is to alter the flow of ‘Qi’ (or energy) along one or more of the 13 meridians (energy channels).

This is a technique therapists and doctors use for the treatment of pain, muscular tension and movement impairments. The technique uses a ‘dry’ needle, one without medication or fluid to inject, inserting it directly into the problem area. Dry needling follows evidence-based guidelines. It is sometimes also called intramuscular stimulation.
